We recommend a radiographic examination of the foot in two planes (AP + lateral) for complete diagnosis. Hallux valgus correction, is a surgical procedure that removes the deformity of the big toe. The method of hallux valgus correction used at Medi Horizon Clinic involves the insertion of modern implants that allow avoiding a cast in the post-operative period, which is associated with a shortened recovery time and a quick return to everyday life. Hallux valgus surgery is performed under subarachnoid (lower lumbar) or general anesthesia and usually takes about 2h. On the day of surgery, the patient is given a full antibiotic cover and thromboprophylaxis is administered. After the procedure at Medi Horizon Clinic, the patient remains under the care of qualified nursing staff and under the constant supervision of an orthopedic surgeon, and leaves the Clinic the next day.

What is the recovery like after hallux valgus correction surgery?
Recovery from the procedure is an individual issue for each patient.
The patient receives a special protective orthopedic shoe after the procedure, which is recommended to be worn for about 6 weeks. This time is used for proper fusion of the bones, which have been properly aligned. The stitches are taken out approximately 10-14 days after the procedure. After the procedure, rehabilitation is recommended by the attending physician for a quick recovery. Return to full fitness and sports is possible about 3 months after the procedure.
