During the consultation visit, the orthopedic surgeon diagnoses the patient in detail and conducts the entire surgical procedure for replacing the knee joint endoprosthesis. Once the patient has been qualified for knee revision surgery by an orthopedic surgeon, he or she is asked to perform a full set of diagnostic blood tests and is then referred for a consultation with an anesthesiologist. Replacement of a knee prosthesis is a surgical procedure that involves replacing the damaged knee prosthesis that the patient already has with a new prosthesis. This procedure is much more difficult and demanding for the orthopedist, due to: to the fact that it is a replacement of the prosthesis. The revision knee replacement surgery is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes about 2 hours. On the day of the procedure, the patient receives full antibiotic protection and antithrombotic prophylaxis. After the procedure, the patient stays in the clinic under the care of qualified medical staff and receives painkillers to be able to recover comfortably after the procedure.

After revision knee replacement surgery, it is recommended to cool the knee area to reduce post-operative tissue swelling and pain. Fast recovery after surgery is related to the recommendations of the orthopedist and rehabilitation. After the procedure, there may be swelling in the joint, causing discomfort that disappears within a few days after the procedure. Knee rehabilitation involves improving the range of motion in the joint and strengthening the muscles. Already on the second day after the procedure, the patient is stabilized and begins rehabilitation exercises.
